The Fudo Hall was built in 1342 (the 3rd year of Koko) and is an architectural survival from the early Muromachi period. It is also known as the family temple of Hijikata Toshizo, vice-commander of the Shinsengumi, and a bronze statue of him stands in the grounds.

Highlights

Besides the Important Cultural Property Fudo Hall and Nio Gate, the temple holds a wooden statue of Fudo Myoo with two attendants (an Important Cultural Property) made in the late Heian period. The hillside behind the grounds is one of Tokyo's leading hydrangea spots, where many flowers bloom in June. A fair is held on the 28th of each month, along with goma fire rituals.
